I had my first book signing over the weekend. I live in a small town in southeastern Oklahoma and a prominent business owner in town offered to host my first signing.
It was great! We had cake and coffee for all the customers and I sold 19 books! I feel it was a successful venture! Cant wait to do another!!! |

Congrats on the book signing! I wish you many, many more to come!!! I look forward to when I will be doing signings too. I am still waiting for a text editor, but I remain optimistic that it will be sooner than later. I can only hope! Best of luck with your book and your success!
Best wishes always, _________________ www.freewebs.com/annemaisyscott

Congratulations on the booksigning. Sounds like it was wonderful!
I have four booksignings in the works. I just have to finalize them with dates, etc. I am pretty nervous but also looking forward to getting the first one over and then I will know what to expect.

Hi Marion
You will have a great time
Especially if you enjoy people
Folks want to chat you up
They are so pleased and friendly
A little boy walked up to me
Said with this dead pan face
"Are you famous?"
Another fella talked and talked
He never bought a book
But told me all about his family
And grandson who is a voracious reader
Funny thing, he showed up AGAIN
At my signing this past weekend
STILL didn't buy a book
This time he wanted to know
If his 10 year old grandson would enjoy it
I told him it wasn't a childrens book
He decided he might buy it for his daughter
Then off he went - he never did make a purchase....
On the whole, however, most people
Were so kind and grateful
To have their copies signed
I asked them who they wanted
Me to make the book out to
How to spell their names, etc.
I even asked how to spell the easy ones
Just in case
I took along a lot of "props"
The huge portfolio of newsarticles
About the real life murders I based
The story on...
The recent newspaper article about my book
And several fellow authors books
On the topic and who influenced me
Folks enjoyed those and it kept them busy
While I signed other folks copies
It was so much fun...

BTW, Kitten, great strategy with the cake
I remember from some marketing classes I took
If you are trying to sell someone ANYTHING
From an idea to a elephant
And everything in between
FEED them
They'll swallow the cake
And bite on the sales pitch as well...
Anne Maisy, it won't be long.
I agree, it will definitely be sooner than later...
Good luck!
Loretta

Doing okay, Kitten
I am glad everything went as planned
This Saturday I am signing in the library in my town
And next week, another Waldenbooks
But I am also in the process of setting up
A St. Patrick's Eve Meet the Author night
With a discussion, reading, and signing
At another local library
I am very excited about that
Especially reading a chapter from my book!
I have been trying out each one
Trying to find "the one" that will have
The most dramatic effect...
Any suggestions from others
Who have done dramatic readings?
How did you decide
What selection to use?
Loretta
